New Artist:  Joseph Farmer – This well-known Missouri sculptor who is also a juied member of the “Best of Missouri Hands” hails from the St. Louis area and works with different metals and objects to create a variety of compositions. This is not “yard art” – Joseph takes his 3-d pieces to a much higher plane than just something to break the weedeater with on a summer afternoon. Each piece incorporates the elements of art with his gathered components to form unusual and dynamic reflections of Joseph’s vision in the final sculpture. Recently, his wife – Bridget has assumed a more prominent role in the design of Joseph’s work with very impressive results. Pictures to come soon . . .

Lynda Tygert is an accomplished photographer from Omaha I have known for several years and she has some of her most beautiful work at Independent Thought again!

She specializes in a technique involving a process called bromoil and we are always thrilled to have new work from Lynda.

This time, she visited the Des Moines area and photographed local imagery for the particular series of work we are showing.

Independent Thought is now proudly showing work by Laura Lee Junge. Her bio and artist statement are above. This artist and I have similar opinions regarding movement and color. We also have similar views on categorization. She brings a beautifully delicate touch to her work that is both grounded and floating. We have a healthy selection of signed prints from Junge that will not last long. Watch this Chicago artist’s career skyrocket – she’s smart, talented, and a great painter!
