Artists

Updated 10-19-11: Currently we are very proud to represent the following talented and hardworking creative artists that are known regionally in the midwest for their work:

New Artist:  Joseph Farmer – This well-known Missouri sculptor who is also a juied member of the “Best of Missouri Hands” hails from the St. Louis area and works with different metals and objects to create a variety of compositions. This is not “yard art” – Joseph takes his 3-d pieces to a much higher plane than just something to break the weedeater with on a summer afternoon. Each piece incorporates the elements of art with his gathered components to form unusual and dynamic reflections of Joseph’s vision in the final sculpture.

Peg Watkins, another fine artist from Omaha has been with us again since last summer. Peg specializes in glass and we still have a few works from this year’s collection.

Omaha photographer Lynda Tygert has a set of recent work available at the gallery once again this year.

Laura Lee Junge – an phenomenal Chicago artist currently has signed prints available in the gallery that are absolutely perfect for Christmas presents this year!

Lissa Hase – an Omaha native living in Boulder, CO. Lissa makes outstanding 2-D mixed media pieces that reflect her incredible sense of design, humor, and her passion for creating works of art.

Kathleen Murphy Willer – a fantastic painter from Wisconsin who is known for her deceptively simple imagery which is actually quite complicated and thought-provoking. Her larger paintings are astounding.

Brad Bauer – A St. Louis photographer with an eye for capturing a moment forever  – long after the image he photographed is gone. He combines a sense of nostalgia, landmark, and beauty in the most unlikely places and subjects and caps his compositions with a remarkable eye for primary colors and earth tones.

Kirk Niehouse – Kirk has been with Independent Thought practically since the first day. He provides wonderful vessels and utilitarian pieces for his collectors and also pushes the envelope with different techniques and forms. Every time he brings new work to the gallery from his studio in Marshalltown, Iowa – it’s like Christmas. . .

Retta Hentschel – Retta  collects and uses old glass, forms, fragments, and pieces from all over Chicagoland to create the most incredible and beautiful compositions in glass and metal we have ever seen. Beautiful and challenging works of art.

John Stillmunks – just a painter originally from Omaha that misses Denver everyday – his work is growing in appreciation and attention from collectors throughout North America and Europe.

Jen Kennedy is fairly new to the gallery from Omaha. She designs and paints small, but dramatic compositions primarily on wood with an emphasis on line and primary colors. Everyone that has seen her work in the gallery “gets it” and we are looking forward to more paintings from her this year.

Some artists show their work at Independent Thought on a less then regular basis – John Gaps, Robin Paul, Robert Lyall, Dierdre Johnson, Kristae Peterson (Kristae’s command of the figure and the emotion she places on the canvas is unrivaled – we can hardly wait to see what she will bring next.) and more.

We also expect to add add least one and maybe two more artists by summer.

Check back often, or better yet please send us a way to contact you (email, Facebook, etc.) so that we may keep you up to date with work from our fantastic gallery artists.
